Starting Sunday 16 June through June 21, over 600 scientists and researchers will attend SHOCK19 in Portland, Oregon. This year Coherent Solutions will join in, demonstrating a PXIe-based Photonic Doppler velocimetry (PDV) system in a compact 9-slot PXI chassis.

SHOCK19 is a biennial conference hosted by the APS Topical Group on Shock Compression of Condensed Matter. The conference focuses on the fundamental science and applications of matter at extreme conditions, including shock-induced materials behavior, high strain rate phenomena, detonation physics and chemistry, and high-pressure and high novel materials among many other topics.

For many of these research areas, Photonic Doppler velocimetry (PDV) is a useful and well-established tool used to measure high-velocity events. Coherent Solutions offers an innovative PXI-based PDV system for high-density, multi-channel PDV test setups.

At the heart of the test setup is the DopplerPXIe module which combines the key optical components for PDV measurements.

Coherent Solutions also provides PXI tunable lasers and high bandwidth optical-to-electrical converter modules which can be added to a PXI chassis so that only a high-speed digitizer or oscilloscope is required to complete the test platform.
